I've been listening this morning to These Days on KPBS. It's the Editor's Round Table. Of course, the show was focused on the unresolved elections -- mayor of San Diego and the 4th District.

I listen to the Editor's speak. I listen to the people calling in.
I am reminded of presidential elections from 1960 to now.

I listened earlier to Morning Edition in which they were talking to Democrat Senators about the future of the party (Moving FARTHER to the right!).

I do not understand why anyone thinks our government is the best possible form.

It's government of the power-hungry, for the power-hungry and by the ignorant.

I suppose it is human to vote on the basis who we "like" better. But, damn.

My concentration is poor. I can't focus long enough to work on coding.

I am distracted by my knee. When I got up this morning, I compared my left and right knees. My left is not quite twice the size of my right. Heat isn't helping. Ibuprofen isn't helping.

And my allergies are are swelling my eyes shut EVEN with medicine.

And the UT Editorial Page Editor is a big time Asshat. What a surprise!

Five things you are:

Lynn is
  1. A mass of conflicting conversations
  2. A non theist
  3. A non-violence activist
  4. A introspection junkie
  5. Tired of fanatic religious fundamentalists and their really stupid religious beliefs (pick a religion -- Christian, Judaism, Islam, Paganism, Breatharianism, Atheism or any of a thousand others).

Just now, there was a nasty bang outside. Seems an older Firebird was turning left from Madison and was hit head on by a small, old Toyota pickup. By the time the two vehicles hit, the relative speed was low. No one is hurt (probably).

I didn't see it, but I have a pretty good theory about how it happened. The Firebird driver (a young male) was sure he had lots of time to make the turn. The pickup was going twice the speed limit.

Two old cars are now totalled. Two poor folks are even poorer.

Oh, and my hip is suggesting that I could just amputate the left leg just above the knee. :)

Isn't this just a wonderfully chilling set of behaviors for police officers in a society that is increasingly interested in punishing wrong doers!

MIAMI-November 14, 2004 — Miami-Dade police have acknowledged using a stun gun on a second youngster. It comes just weeks after an officer subdued a 55-pound first-grader with a 50,000-volt shock.

In the second instance, a 15-year-veteran officer used his Taser to immobilize a 12-year-old girl who was playing hooky from school.

Police Director Bobby Parker says he can't defend the decision to shock the girl on November fifth. But Parker says the use of the Taser was justified in shocking a six-year-old boy October 20th because the boy was holding a piece of glass and threatening to hurt himself.

Parker says the department will review its policy on the use of the weapons.

I think it's important to hurt six-year-olds before they have a chance to hurt themselves.
Or as we say at the show, "Maybe we should try that."

Yes. I would love it if my life were simpler. Doesn't matter than it really can't get any simpler.

I would love it if my relationships were simpler. Doesn't matter than they really can't get any simpler.

I would love it if I weren't having a "people are assholes" moment. I'm remembering why I stopped listening to the news.

Let's teach non-science in schools and taser children who dare to defy us. I also think we should bring back work houses. We spend a lot of money on children, I think they owe us four or five hours of honest work every day.

Let's see what we can do about old people, too. It costs a lot of public money to keep those lazy retired people in aspirins.

Hmm. I know. Let's draft the children and old people. I'm sure the military could use them to clear roadside bombs and to test for the presence of booby traps. Hell, we need thousands of people just to put drapes over all the nude art in America, not to mention the rest of the world.

When we interrogate Taliban leaders, we should ask HOW to go about destroying offending art, ripping the guts out of education, making baby factories out of women, and suppressing non-conformist religions. Oh, and we should ask them how they justified torture.

We might have to stop torturing them long enough for them to answer, though. I'm not sure god will let us stop. I mean, if we aren't doing god's dirty work, we won't get rewarded with a peaceful future.

One must kill and destroy in order to live and create. No, really. Just ask anyone who is sure that vengeance is their god-given mission. Hey, George? ....

I recently told someone that confrontational activism isn't very effective. It can be. Civil disobedience on a large scale can be very effective.

But around the world (In Chile, today) there are demonstrations for or against this or that. Those aren't very effective.

However, participants do get to feel like they are doing something in honor of their ethics. That might not change the planet, but maybe it's enough that one gets to feel one is contributing to one's cause.

I'm thinking I want back into that world. I miss going to the Inter Agency Coalition for Human and Civil Rights.

Only no beer.

My knee hurts like hell. Enough that I am not even going to Rocky. I'm having trouble getting from my desk to the bathroom. There is no way I can deal with La Paloma.

I will be going to the Navy Hospital on Monday morning. Cause this really, really sucks. Really.

ow.
