I recently told someone that confrontational activism isn't very effective. It can be. Civil disobedience on a large scale can be very effective.

But around the world (In Chile, today) there are demonstrations for or against this or that. Those aren't very effective.

However, participants do get to feel like they are doing something in honor of their ethics. That might not change the planet, but maybe it's enough that one gets to feel one is contributing to one's cause.

I'm thinking I want back into that world. I miss going to the Inter Agency Coalition for Human and Civil Rights.
