I really don't want to learn perl. I seem dead set against it. Amavisd-new is written in perl and its configuration file really isn't a configuration file as much as it is just more perl code. I am struggling with it. Partly because I get the idea of what is going on, but screw things up when I try to change something. Partly because the documentation is close to worthless (at least for me.)
I've studied it for two days (into day 3) and I'm finally making sense of the config file.
I use perl now and then because some tools like amavisd is written in it. I use python for the same reason. And I have studied both. But I don't use them often enough remember anything. sigh.
I guess I will once again study perl. And python. And awk. I want more than just a nodding acquaintance with these scripting languages. And, I will stare at C again, too. I keep compiling things from scratch, so I should have a deeper understanding of what the hell I'm doing. :)
