The problem with being Chicken Little or The Boy Who Cried Wolf is that, sometimes, the sky really is falling or the wolf really is attacking.
James Hansen talks to Congress about Global Warming.
He says that the Arctic will be free of summer sea ice within 10 years He doesn't say anything about the Thermocline Current, but the drastic drop in salinity will turn off the engine on that current.
Now, James, not wanting to cause Congress to think that they can't do anything because it is already too late, painted a slightly less dire future by saying is almost too late. It is too late. With assholes like James Inhofe in Congress:
"Longtime global warming skeptic Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., citing a recent poll, said in a statement, 'Hansen, (former Vice President) Gore and the media have been trumpeting man-made climate doom since the 1980s. But Americans are not buying it.'"
and with the Asia, South America and parts of Africa just starting their Industrial Revolution, we have no chance of getting the world to stop putting greenhouse gasses in the air.
Life is going to get interesting in the next 20 years.
And, frankly, I'm glad I'm entering the autumn of my life the old fashion way of just getting older.
