The California Supreme Court handed down a 120 page, 4-3 decision which boils down to this: disallowing same sex marriage does not provide equal protection required by the California Constitution. They also said that granting marriage rights to same sex couples was a better solution than denying marriage to all Californians.
This is a great day for California. It remains to be seen if California will have a great day in November when we vote on a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage.
The dissenting opinion was thinly-veiled bigotry. The three justices who dissented must be embarrassed by the obvious sham that stands as their opinion.
Marriage: Not just heterosexual privilege any more!
