KPBS radio has gone off the air because of the fires. Their transmitter on Mt. San Miguel is down. Damn. I love their news coverage of local disasters. They don't spend much time with human interest stuff. They give the current, known status and official projections.
Ah, but, they are still streaming live. And more than that, they are on the air with a different transmitter/frequency. Radio station 94.9 is streaming KPBS radio coverage of the fires. That is more than great.
Speaking of the airwaves. Two nights ago, the emergency broadcast network was put in operation. That's the first time I've seen it used. It is also the last time it has been used in this emergency. it should be the first way that new evacuation orders are sent out. I don't think people practice with it enough.
