My main MTA is hosted on mercury.ngender.net.
Postfix configuration allows the use variables in the configuration files. Two of the standard variables are "myhostname" and "mydomainname".
It seemed to me that those variables should be set like this:
myhostname = mercury
mydomainname = ngender.net
Nope. Configuring like this caused some failed mail attempts. quallcomm.com refused mail from me. I misread the failure report and thought it had something to do with in-arpa for ngender.net. Then a test message to my creditlink.com address failed the same way.
Reporting-MTA; dns; mercury
oops. Seems like myhostname should be "mercury.ngender.net" sigh.
