I turned the radio back on at 11:10 because I have liked "Talk of the Nation" in the past. But you can't imagine how tired I am of hearing any story at all about Afghanistan, Iraq, or Iran. I am so thoroughly not interested in how well or how badly we are doing in our "war on terror." I have my opinions about that and I am not going to be swayed in any direction by listening to heartwarming and heartrending stories. I don't want to hear about the families of dead soldiers or the dead soldiers. I don't want to hear about what the US Military has done that is good or that is bad.

I am not interested in who died from friendly fire, who died from a homicide-bomber attack. I am not particularly interested in the theories about how and why young men decide to sacrifice themselves to their cause and their god.

Really. I've seen war first hand. I've seen gruesome death first hand. I have a very good idea what our military is doing. I've a pretty good idea what the culture is among our troops on the ground in Afghanistan and Iraq. I don't need to hear another story about some "atrocity" committed by some soldier and his platoon.

Maybe someone needs to hear all that. Maybe those opposed to war needs to hear left-leaning reports from the war zones. Maybe those committed to the "war on terror" needs to hear about the progress the "surge" is making in taming the Iraqi shrew. Maybe all that has to be said so those screaming at the top of their lungs to stop or continue can justify their positions. Maybe.

I just don't need to hear it. I am tired of hearing it. And local news can't seem to talk about anything short death and the doings of celebrities.

sigh.
