I am upgrading the OS on my server at home. Something happened to it such that it was not bootable anymore. I gave up trying to fix that issue and decided it was time to step up to OpenSuSE 10.2.
Turns out I was further behind than I remembered. I thought I was on release 10.1, but not. I was on 10.0. So it was time anyway.
The next trick will be the laptop because I'm still on 10.0 on this, too.
It is good all around except, of course, for php. I have a great deal of php4 code on my server and 10.2 loads php5 by default. Most of the php is for a client. And that client's hosting company is running php4. I'll probably have to modify the php scripts such that it will run on either.
I'm working from home today. It is pushing 9am and I've been more productive in the last hour than I am all damn day at work. I think I'll be having more "at home days" so I can get something done! For instance, I've been writing a tcl/tk script that writes checks and outputs a file that can imported into QuickBooks. It is nearly complete and ready for testing, but I've been interrupted over and over and over again by things with a higher priority (that means something broke). When I work at home, others struggle with the problem. And they very often fix it without me. It is also far more comfortable here.
Time for a bit of breakfast....
