QuickBooks allows multiple users.  And each of them can write/print checks for a given account.  You would think that it would keep track of "last check number printed" for each account in a common variable, wouldn't you?

So no matter which computer sent checks to the common check printer, the assigned check numbers would match the preprinted check number.  Alas, that does not seem to be the case. It has taken weeks to figure out how the register gets screwed up every day.

That tripped us up at Cycleworks, too. I think we arranged it so that whoever wrote the chack was sure to "next" it, and then it updated, but maybe I am thinking of something else.
