And so am I.
My darling daughter came to visit with her friends and to escort one of them to Baby's R Us to register. Ryan spent the evening with Grandpa. It was good. He is either right on track or ahead in development. He seemed ahead in ways that I find important. He is just over three months and has made cause and effect down for at least of his toys.
He has a a chair like contraption that makes noise and flashes lights when he kicks pads near his feet. I watched for 15 minutes to see if he was being purposeful in his kicking. He was really favoring his left foot. And he was striking the same place over and over. Turns out the right kick switch doesn't work. Only the left one causes the lights and sounds. Plus, he didn't kick until the lights stopped. I would have to watch him longer to be sure, but it was a reasonable sampling.
He rolled over from his belly to his back for the first time on Sunday morning. Heather was so excited that she kept turning him back over just to watch. And like a dutiful son, he rolled over every time to the delight of us who were called in to watch.
He did cry for about 40 minutes (as babies are wont to do). All it took was food and burping to get him back under control. He is half and half breast fed and formula (I don't know why). Heather's pediatrician said that the iron in the formula and the iron in the prenatal vitamins that she is still taking tend to make the baby gassy. Poor kid!
I was feeding him when his dad called me on my cell phone. I had to turn him over to Stacey to get at my phone. I didn't get him back. Oh well. Next time.
