Yesterday was a great day. I handled a double handful of little annoyances around the office and a couple at home. I felt great. I was getting things done.
Today, on the other hand, is one crisis after another. As I walked in the front door I was greeted with "After you get a cup of coffee, can you look at my computer? I can't print." I fixed that issue and headed for my office. I didn't make it. Nobody could access the DebtorBase server. I fixed that problem just in time to get a request to fix a single machine that "lost" an application. As I was fixing that one, the guy next to me said, "I can't get on the internet." I rebooted his machine and after confirming his access, the legal assistant said she couldn't print checks.
She tried to print the same check 5 times and they were all in the queue. After I discovered the printer cable was half out of it's socket, I printed one of the checks, went into quickbooks and deleted the other four she tried to print.
When I finally was able to sit at my desk, I noticed that my M$ Windows machine was telling me that it had found new hardware. It hadn't really, but a necessary driver had become corrupted.
It is now 10:40. I have done nothing but fix a series of simple problems with huge consequences.
Oh, and by the way, QuickBooks 2007 has more bugs than a well established ant colony.
And I ran out of creamer. Sigh.
Life happens.
