Is a serious favorite of mine. I love rhubarb pie. Although it almost never is found as just rhubarb. It is usually mixed with strawberries. Although I love it, I have shied away from cooking with it. I have some partial memory from my youth that always made rhubarb a "too hard" food. There isn't really a "too hard" food. Rhubarb is tart and it does take some work to get enough sugar into a recipe. :)

Well, tonight I cooked with rhubarb. I just put a rhubarb and strawberry crisp into the oven. I have my fingers crossed. But even if it doesn't turn out perfect, it required that I get some rolled oats into the house! Whee.

I bought some Alberstson's garlic bread tonight to see if it was worth anything. It isn't. :( The bread was okay, but I prefer my garlic bread toasted. This was just garlic butter with parsley spread between a horizontally sliced french bread. Hell, I could have done that. ;)

The crisp comes out of the oven in about 30 more minutes then it sits and cools a bit. After that, some vanilla ice cream and a good movie.

The store-brand garlic bread is usually just that - garlic butter and parsley on french bread. Kinda crappy if you ask me :(

I love the Albertsons bread, we garlic it ourselves though; I don't like the pre-made stuff, it is greasy.

When I was a small child I used to pick the "wild" rhubarb that grew behind the liquor store in Glencoe, Ont. We'd eat it raw, just washed off. It was tart but oh so good.

I heart rhubarb.

ps - it's a natural laxative, don't eat too much ;-)

Yes. It was good. Too little rhubarb and too many strawberries for my taste. But the recipe is basically sound. I'll be making it again in the future!
