The last project I completed that used a lot of concrete was more than 30 years ago. I've forgotten a lot. Slowly I'm remembering. The good thing is that I am not hurrying this project so I have time to think about each step.
I also have a professional concrete contractor as a friend. Everything you want is in your community! I'll ask him a question or two.
Stacey made some calls about concrete when we started this project. I was left thinking that we had no chance of getting a ready-mix truck out here. Turns out, she talked to a concrete contractor, not a concrete supplier. I haven't talked to them yet for pricing, but I am sure we can get as truck.
If I use bags of ready mix, the job is going to be something like $300 for the bags. But the problem will be mixing them fast enough. Better to get a truck even if that cost twice as much.
Getting a truck also means that I can go ahead and fix the square of sidewalk, too. And pour the small slab on which the trash, recycling, and green waste barrels sit. I might as well get it all done at once! The more you get from one truck the cheaper overall if I remember correctly.
On an unrelated topic, I just printed the second side of half tonight's programs upside down. That will teach me to lose focus!
Love
Edited to add: I called my contractor friend, Eddie, and found out that US Rentals (at least one location) has a ready mix system. You rent a trailer from them filed with the amount of cement you need. It's only about $150! He is even going to use his truck to get the trailer and we can use his tools. This is VERY GOOD!
