There were a few shining moments. The folks who can be counted on to step up every time, stepped up or it would have been humiliating.
My hat is off to Cosmo who, while having a migraine, in the space of five minutes as Reverend took a small and oh so dead audience and woke them right up. His migraine was so bad, he had to leave early. Yay for Token who stepped in do the rest of Crim -- a part he hasn't played before! And to Kim who blocking and timing were very good for the length of the show. And LBJ and Chrys did a really cute marionette Space Suits. And hurrah for Nicole to go from Trixie to Janet. That was pretty cool. And to Jeremy without whom we would have had a lot of trouble moving the major props.
I'm not saying people didn't work. As a group, they did work. We had the barest minimum of people. And it's great that we can put on a show with so few. But this was a train wreck show. I think it's the worst I've seen. I know it is from the lighting booth.
The worst part for me, though was an interaction with Amanda in which she managed to spend every single nickle of the good will I've managed to save up for her. I won't try to restore it. Not worth my effort.
Now here's a trick. I had three optical migraines during the course of lighting the show. I did pretty damn good for being blind for half the show. At one point it was so bad I couldn't tell who was who ON THE SCREEN much less on the stage. When Token took over for Cosmo, I didn't know and couldn't see him when I through the light over there. I was looking for Cosmo's white shirt. Token didn't have a shirt on. And I probably had the hotter spots turned up too high. I was struggling. Still. Not bad. I like doing lights.
Bah.
