For various worthless reasons -- at they all -- I've been ignoring my keyboard. I think I proved to myself what I wanted to prove.
I'm going to put practice back in. So I just practiced for about 40 minutes. I suck as bad as I did when I stopped practicing. But that is GOOD news. I can still read the music and more or less hit the notes.
What I can't do yet is hit the notes at the right time. And no amount of metronome loudness is helping. I can't tell if I'm hitting the key at the right time. The click is not related in time to the key for me. I'm going to start some one note practice with that, I think. Start the metronome and start hitting a key at the same count. Maybe I can train my ear to ear them both.
Anyway, I can still play "Money can't buy happiness" and "When the saints go marching in" and "Happy Birthday." Although I really suck at the birthday song. :)
Still and all, I am having fun!
lizetta pointed something out to me last Friday at the show. I was singing some song from Rocky and she said it was an "interesting tune" I was singing the words to. Oops. Sounded right to me. :) I've always had a horrible lack of skill at getting melodies right. I will never be a skilled musician, but that is fine. I will have fun being a dorky one.
