Dora is a Heinlein creation. A Space Ship belonging to Lazarus Long and family. It has magic rooms courtesy of Glenda the Good Witch of the North.
Read "The Number of the Beast" for a good description of Dora and Gay Deceiver and how they came to be.
My family is busting out at the seems in this great no-so-little apartment. Part of a walled in porch is a small bedroom that contains Graveyard Greg and me. The rest of the porch is office space also containing GG and me. The laundry room has been converted into another bedroom, which is aeire's domain. The real bedroom is the sleeping quarters for tony and scix. Le is on the couch in the living room with no bedroom for himself.
The living room is the office for tony, scix, aeire and le.
Six people; one bathroom.
I don't mind, actually, but other family members are chaffing a bit. And GG always seems to be in the bathroom any time any one else wants to be. (How does he do that?)
Options.
Expand into another unit in the same complex. One is currently available and another will be soon. It means adding $900 to the monthly rent. That is really stretching the budget. But has the benefit of NOT MOVING.
Move to a house with four or five bedrooms. This has the great advantage of more bathrooms. Not to mention real bedrooms. Depending where in San Diego County we move it will probably be cheaper than the expand option. The drawback? Glad you asked. It would probably mean moving into a real suburb a long way from anything. It might be possible to find something in North County along the coast that would be okay IF we wanted to give up the great neighborhoods of San Diego.
Paradigm Shift in the current place. The porch space that GG and I use as office could be turned into another bedroom with enough office space for one. The living room could be just given up to office space. This one doesn't increase the number of bathrooms (although Twiggs Coffee Shop is just across the street), but it also doesn't increase the amount of rent to be paid and it doesn't require a move.
My order of preference is Paradigm Shift, Expand, Move. I can live with any of the three, though.

We do better than my smaller birth family ever did regardless of house size.

Heinlein purists suck dont they?
However the initial thouth that of magic rooms is a Really nice one.
Re:
I seem to be the only one who remembers that, though. :)
I'd settle for a visit from Glenda to fix up this apartment.
