We came very close to signing up with a "bundle" from AT&T. For reasons not related to us, the sales rep has to come back tomorrow to complete the deal. Well.... I don't think it is going to happen.

Here are the two problems. One. Even though it is a fiber optic connection to the house, the Internet connection is still DSL. And that means downlink and uplink speeds are wildly different. And, as far as our needs are concerned, different in the wrong direction. The good thing, is they would give me a fixed IP. The bad news is I won't be able to use home as a back up server location after all. The really BAD NEWS is that the rep failed completely to mention that the great bandwidth she was quoting was not in both direction. I hate being deceived.

Problem two. This is a much, much, much bigger problem and it is the one that puts the deal in the trash. No more than two HD programs at a time max. It might be just one. And that means viewing or recording. With the quickly coming days of all HD, AT&T's limitation is a bit STUPID. Oh, and the rep completely failed to mention this limitation, too.

I think I shall recommend against it.

sigh.
