Sleepy, tired, sore, headache, cold and uncomfortable in this chair.

And listening to some movie or another that makes no sense (I'm not paying attention, though).

There is no mail to read, no newsgroup traffic to look at, no LJ friends entries I haven't seen and nothing posted to the forums I manage/look at.

I can't see well enough to work on my script any longer (live testing on test server tomorrow).

My stomach hurts, I'm having an optical migraine and my nose is plugged up.

With all that, one would think that escaping into the world of sleep would be ideal.

I want nothing to do with my bed right now. Blah.

Fuck it. To bed I go, perhaps to sleep.

I took a whack at my friends list. A number of journals were taking up space. That is, I stopped reading the entries on my friends list from those journals.

I noticed that I had resisted do that. The story I was telling myself is "It's easy enough to skip the entries and not hurt their feelings." But it wasn't their feelings I was worried about, it was dealing with possible responses that concerned me.

Remember the song "you're so vain"? My taking you off my friends list isn't about you either.

Love.

YES!
The Crazed Imaginations home page is now being generated from postgresql. Whew.

A few forms to create in HTML to edit the contents.
Here is what our cast director (and anyone she designates) will be able to do:
1. Change the Marquee. It will randomly pick from all marquees in the table marked "visible".
2. Change the random picture list.
3. Change the random quote list.
4. Change the show announcements. Show announcements will have start and stop dates to control when they show up and when they stop showing up.
5. Change "From the Cast Director" messages. When there is one (or more) it will show up in a purple box above the show announcements.

This is QUITE good.

The next thing that will go into the database is the menu structure. One menu change will then be on all affected pages. I haven't figured out, quite, how to deal with the forums pages with that one yet. The forum is already using a template page and a different database. It will be fun! (I think, each time the menu is changed, the forum template will be regenerated as a static page.)

I've invented several different kinds of wheels that are all doing the same job. I'm not very happy with any of them.

I'm going to work on a general mechanism for determining the appropriate path through a script each entry should take.

I don't know what it looks like, yet. But I know some of the things it requires.
1. Easily understood.
2. Spoof proof
3. Built data integrity checking
4. call internal procedures or other scripts.
5. Smart about what resources it needs depending on job at hand.

SOON. This is moving from pipe dream to drawing board this week. It's a fun problem to work on, I think. Several days of inventing on my own, then I'll have a look at what other people have done for this issue.

Off to rehearsals.

Love.

stuff )

"Life. Don't talk to me about Life." Marvin
"Don't worry. Be happy." Bobby McFerrin
"Happiness is." Donovan

Someone should be climbing into my bed for a good cuddle. I have five different candidates in mind. To bad they have all said "no" in a forever sort of way.
