I have a tendency to take the expedient path to a solution. It means I can usually get something done pretty quickly and reasonably well.

But there is a cost. I am slowly becoming aware of just how expensive it is in the long run.

I have delayed and delayed getting the new cast web scripts functional. It's a big job. So I kludged the major chances I wanted in layout. Kludging is a favorite tactic of Expedient Man.

I have even kludged the auction script a bit. But not completely. I used the tools I've created for the cast web site. So, when Amy wanted to view the bidders list for the online auction, it took a very short time to create a decent page. Not how Expedient Man would have done it.

"Doing work as it was meant to be done" has more value than I am often willing to credit. I have a little evidence now. And it is something I am using every time I write code. This is very, very good.
