Prison camps in Iraq. My two cents worth.

I am deeply troubled and profoundly sad. But not about the soldiers who tortured the Iraqis. I am disturbed, instead, by the reaction of government and senior military officials. They are either incredibly stupid or lying with every breath.

I know a little something about human beings. Look at the history of warfare, prisons, slavery and any other human institution in which one set of people has as it's purpose to punish another set for their transgressions or human institutions in which one set of people are insistent that another set of people believe a given set of beliefs.

Anyone is isn't expecting the Spanish Inquisition has their head in the sand.

Wide spread abuses in these prisons could have been prevented. Easily. There was no will to prevent it. Worse, there was a will to encourage seeing the "enemy" as an evil monster deserving of any treatment given.

It is how the military (or any other hate group) works.

Yes. I am ashamed of my country for even being in Iraq. The shame is only deepened by our current policies. But I am not interested in punishing anyone, even that notorious war criminal George W. Bush.

Hugs. Makes me angry too, and sad.
Someday these guys are going to realize just
what they've done. It's all so sad.

I love you.
