If I am a little choosy about the starting layout (about 1 in 10), I can beat Spider about 1 in 10. That is good enough.

_greg has been pushing Scribus off on my for more than a year. The last time I looked at it, it wasn't even close to a good program. Bad interface, lots of not quite good enough features and clumsy to use.
He just sent me a review of the most recent version, 1.1.6. I have 1.0.1 loaded with SuSE (I need to update!), but hadn't tried it. I didn't expect it to be any better than the 1.0 version I looked at.
In fact, it is quite a bit better. I'll load up 1.1.6 and test it. DTP was the big missing for me abut leaving Microsoft behind. This might be the umph I need to just delete the damn windows 98 partition on this machine. That would be nice.
