A long nights sleep and the end, more or less, of my worst allergic responses. Whew. Still tired. I'm going to be early tonight.
I'm going to proofread my bethechange.net content then upload it.
crazedcute gave me her critique of my Riff. Not bad at all. Apparently, though, my smirks and smiles were not visible to the audience. I'll practice a bit with a mirror and get some feedback from
pdi.
I was a little awkward getting from one side to the other of the stage in two different scenes. It's a long slow march. I'm not sure what to do about this one. I'll ask for some help, I guess. It might partly be because I was counting for timing, but I've always been awkward when moving slowly. It is something to work on.
Sha na na nas were a little awkward in my mind. Chrys said they were late.
lizetta said the first round looked really good and the second round a bit less good. The big problem for me with these is I can't really tell what my body is doing unless I look. And I have no idea what is happening with the legs of Columbia and Magenta. These might just continue to be hit or miss. Still, worth working on.
Time warp went okay, but I'm early on bringing my knees in tight. I'll have to watch the trannies on the movie again. Yet again. Oh, and Riff's leg kicks were early in the opening moments.
The bagel bit was off a little, too. I could feel I was off, but couldn't remember the cues. I think I need a real bagel. :)
My lip synching is off. In the tower scene, I couldn't hear Riff singing for the crowd noise. I was really faking that. And several other of my sound cues got drown out by the crowd. This will be an ongoing problem. Also, for some of Riff's speeches, I couldn't find any cues. I have no idea how I'm going to get that timing right. I miss some of that when I'm watching the movie. :(
Still, it was a very good performance for a first time. I'm happy with it. This week, I'm playing Riff at the Cathedral show. That will be really interesting.
Also, this week, I'm going to find a better way to do hair. I'm grateful to Bud for taking the time to give me hair his way, but it has limitations. I'm going to finally visit a wig shop and talk to some experts. It seems there are ways that falls are made that would work. We will see. I'll play Riff without hair, but it isn't my first choice. Maybe I'll just let my hair grow back out. It's vaguely Riff like in it's natural state. :)
Yay me.

Err, some of the drama folks add something to that, but the idea is that if that word (or set of words) is mouthed at the right speed, it looks pretty accurate, if you happen to lose your place! Me, when I did Riff, had way too little practice time (I was up here...how in the heck could I all that much?) and thus ended up faking too often. But I bet if one used it way sparingly, it would work better ;-)
Congrats, Lynn.
