No really. I hate computers. I am beginning to hate people who use computers. (and I haven't hated anyone in years)
I am thinking that I want to support all the hackers and crackers so that the world gets tired of computers and the fucking moronic things go away.
I really, really hate them.
So, I can't play a DVD on my linux machine for various reasons having to do with a Real Operating System and time sharing cpu time. So, if I want to watch a DVD on my computer, I must reboot the machine into windows 98 (It came with the computer, what can I say)
So I happily typed "reboot" at the prompt in my root shell and waited. Nothing happened. Then I looked down at the status line. I was not in a root shell for MY machine, but for my server machine. Damn. Just rebooted the server. Oh well.
But it didn't come back on line. I ended up driving to where the server is. I can't get it back on line. I spent 3 hours trying to get it on line. Didn't quite manage.
Here is what I think happened. Over the course of months and months, Greg has run an updating application which fixes security holes and such. It also installs the newest "stable" version of stuff already on the machine. Well, one of the those updates has screwed up the booting sequence.
I can't get back to it until Sunday early. (about 12 hours from now) If I can't figure out how to make the new stuff work, I will change the mtab, fstab and lilo.conf such that it isn't a raid machine. Then when Greg gets back from Burning Man, he and I will figure out how to make it all well.
In the meantime, the server is down. AND I HATE COMPUTERS.
Why on earth do I think I want to make a living out of them. Sigh. I think I'll be an art model again.

Think of all the games! Yay! ^_^
Well if you become an art model again, I'll hire you for a session, umm but you'll need to come to Denver.
Good luck on the server.
