Movie Night
Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day
This movie made it into our viewing queue by virtue of Frances McDormand as Pettigrew. I fell for her in Fargo and slurp up anything she is in. Of course, she is on all her husband's movies and I like those, too. :)
The plot is pedestrian. The outcome obvious. The acting is mostly adequate, except for McDormand. The writer's gave McDormand some wonderful lines. I was waiting for each new brilliant utterance and didn't wait very long between them.
If you liked McDormand in Fargo, you will almost certainly like in this. Without a strong performance for the lead character, I would give this a weak 2. As it is, though, I have decided on a 3. Probably my McDormand bias.
