I'm fascinated by the differences in moral structures created by subcultures and the interaction with the structures of the larger culture.
Those who are aligned with the larger culture use force and intimidation to enforce their moral truths on those who have different truths. The level of intimidation and force might be low and subtle or high and obvious, but it is there. The subgroups become furtive and private to avoid the domination.
And in that swarm or pretence both sides feel like they have won some battle for their right of self expression.
It's a wonderful game to watch if one has a strong stomach for the players suffer a lot of nasty injuries.
