Stacey is amazing.
She has been in serious pain for more than a month. She has a blinding headache that slips in and out of migraine symptoms and mild to intense nausea every single day. Sometimes she can read, sometimes she can't focus her eyes at all. Sometimes every single noise sounds shrill and unbearably loud. Sometimes the dimmest of light causes throbbing down her neck and spine.
She has not had a moments relief in five or six weeks.
And, still she functions. She is upset with herself because she isn't getting "more done" during this, but she is accomplishing a lot.
I handle pain pretty well, but if this were me, I would have curled up on a ball in the back of the closet whimpering for ever more drugs a couple of weeks ago.
She wants a new doctor (although she has not seen her primary doctor about this round of pain) because he has thrown up his hands in surrender to her headaches. We are finally getting her into the military database (next Friday) so she can be seen by Navy doctors. The military doctors in San Diego are exceptionally good. (The hospital has won many major awards for its excellence.) Maybe another neurological workup will find something that be treated.
I hope so. She is getting really tired of the pain.
EDIT to add. Yesterday she starting getting some relief from the headache. This morning (11/10), she is more or less without headache or stomach issues. She is feeling a bit tender and fragile, though.
