having topics I can't talk about with people. Especially if Stacey is one of the people. It's selfish of me, I know, but I want to speak of things that will slightly spoil "Deathly Hollows". :)
I tried to go back to the book I was reading when HPDH came out. I was mildly happy with that book. It wasn't great, but I was enjoying it. Now I can't read more than a page or two before I get bored. Sigh.
I may be done reading for a month or so. It's not like I don't have plenty of things to fill those hours.
On "Wait. Wait. Don't tell me" last weekend, the celebrity guest was Jim Dale, the narrator of Harry Potter books on tape. They played a short exchange between Hermione and Professor Sprout. It was great. Rather than reading the set again, I might just listen to it. I do have a lot of trouble staying tuned in when I am just listening to something, though. It's the issue I have with phone calls. It takes a great effort for me to stay present.
What is sadder than a short break from books is finding out that I can no longer read Heinlein. His penchant for beating a dead horse has finally worn too thin. I've been toying with the idea of typing "Number of the Beast" into my computer, then editing it down to the book I think it should be. :) I was going to do that with "Atlas Shrugged" 40 years ago, but I didn't have a computer. :)
