I could not find my SuSE 10.0 disks the other day, so I bit the bullet and updated my test server with SuSE 10.2. There isn't anything on that server that isn't easily replaceable. It updated perfectly.

So last night I updated my laptop. It went nearly perfectly. I discovered a missing symbolic link this morning. Other than that....

I'm mostly happy with 10.2. Some bits of technology have greatly improved in the last two years. SuSE 10.2 has much better control over such things as sound -- the multi-media keys on the keyboard are supported. I had a kludge to support them, but it was flaky.

Also, it installed flash 9. I haven't tried it yet, though.

All in all, it was a good upgrade. And SuSE 10.2 is more friendly for novice users. That is a good thing!

Just to broadcast the "truth".

Lysol brand disinfectant is NOT an air freshener.

That is all.

Why must the providers of operating systems change the look and feel of the interface just for the sake of changing it? I was given the option to use the standard KDE menu system rather than the new and improved SusE version. That would be "new and improved" in the more difficult to navigate style.

Beyond that, my solitaire game (that hasn't been updated in more than five years) got a needless face-lift. Someone at gnome decided to change the look of the cards. It is now much harder visually for me to deal with the display of the game.
