Old and New

Dealing with old software is a delicate operation.  For instance, one particular function prints checks.  But it prints to a check format that is not in use anymore.  That means we must trick the program to print ascii checks to a file, then "adjust" the file to fiddle the data into a more modern form, then print checks.

Screw that up in any particular and it can take hours to recover.
