I REALLY hate Microsoft products. The current object of hate is XP. There just isn't any good way to find out what is going on under the gui. I think the office machines are infected with some sort of virus or worm.

We did find one of the backdoor viruses yesterday. I consider that very, very bad news.

Stacey is busy installing and buying the latest anti-virus software. I don't hold out much hope of it being the "guard against intrusion" it is touted to be.

I have other things to do besides babysit Microsoft boxes.

The virus (I'm now convinced it is there) will not let me uninstall or reinstall Symantec's anti-virus software. If I highlight it in "Add or Remove Software", the computer reboots.

If put the Symantec CD in the machine, it closes the "install window" a couple of seconds after it opens.

I'm not a Windows person. I am pretty much stuck at this point. It feels a lot like "time to wipe the hard disk, reinstall windows, reload all the needed applications, and curse Bill Gates.

If we can find out what virus it is, we probably can salvage the other 30 computers without having to do the same thing to each of them.

We don't host our own web pages. We will, but we don't now.

What does that mean right now? It means our webhosting service is having a little problem and there isn't anything I can do about it. Bah.

Being a flake plays hell with you integrity. Not all flakes realized this. They have a thousand reasons why the flaked each time. In their eyes they aren't flakes at all; they just have circumstances.

To the rest of us, though, they look like flakes. They cannot be counted on delivering on a promise.

There are several flakes in my life right now. One has just caused me to miss a deadline to a customer. I'll have a nearly completed product to deliver. That means that the flake has not only damaged his reputation with me, but he has damaged mine with a customer. And he as damaged the reputation of the person who recommended the flake to me in the first place.

Now this flake has a lot of good reasons for missing his deadline. He even has good reasons for not returning any of my ten calls. And it doesn't matter one bit what his reasons are.

I have missed a deadline. Period.

Flakes suck.

Get some fucking integrity, Nimrod. Sigh.

Partly, or maybe mostly, I'm upset with myself for not finding a different source when there was still time.
