I finally broke down and bought a HP 7410. I've been eyeing it for months and months.

It prints wonderfully from my linux machine and from the OSX Macs in the house. I can access the camera cards plugged into it. This is good. The "normal" way to get images off a camera really sucked.

I can not access the fax function from my computer. No big deal. I don't know yet if Stacey can access it from the Mac. And I can't use the scan feature. Everything I've read says I should be able to. A little trouble shooting to do there! I have had zero luck scanning on a linux machine. I am guess, though, that I can't scan from a network scanner with xsane. I suppose if I want to scan badly enough, I can plug in with a usb cord. I might test that later.

It is, though, a wonderful personal copier and color printer. It has built in duplex printing (something I didn't know when I bought it!) and an extra paper tray. It's even wireless for the internet.

There is another feature I won't (or maybe can't) make use of. We might be able to use it from the Mac, though. I can tell the machine to share something I scan or selected pictures from a camera card. And when I tell it, it sends emails to everyone in my share book. I think it does it by sending everything to a HP server and resending it from there. It's a cool feature. New parents sending ten pictures a day to grandparents, for example. :)

Anyway, a new toy for Lynn. I need to bill my client for some money. :)

Love.
