I haven't had a real job in many years. I a bit surprised that I really like the routine of getting up and going to work, working, coming home. I don't think I want to do it forever, though. :)
It certainly helps that:
1. It a job I really like
2. I'm really good at it
3. Other people think I'm good at it
4. It's the kind of job I've always wanted
5. It's the kind of job I've always wanted to be good at.
I wish it was going to last about 2 months longer or paid half again as much.
The company I'm contracting with is probably going to get several big contracts in the next 6 months. There is some chance that I'll get a bit of traveling and I'll get to do this some more. I think it would mean being away from home half the month, every month. (I wouldn't want to be gone more than that!
And it would mean $4K a month, every month. I really like that idea. At least for a couple of years. Time to get some money in the bank to cover expenses that WILL certainly be coming up.
Even if the direct follow on work doesn't happen, I have enough evidence to see that I have something of value to offer and I can charge a going price for it. Time to actually put that to work!
