A young woman I know had a great dream from her early teens. She wanted to go to Antarctica. For years, that was her dream. She worked hard at her education and attained a Ph.D. in Oceanography and started a career in research. Four years ago, she achieved her childhood dream. Research on the Frozen Continent.
As she left on the plane, she thought, "I could die happy." Her grand adventure was complete. Then the young woman stopped dreaming. The rest of her life was payment for achieving her dream. For the purposes of joyous living, she did die on that plane.
Oh, she was going through the motions. She hated her job, hated all the options open to her. The only joy in her life was a wonderful man she loved and who loved him. But even that island of joy had it's pits and barbs. They fought.
Yes. Life was not good for your heroine and her bow. Not good at all.
Then she talked to me. {triumphant trumpets can be heard in the distance.}
One coaching call. One shift in being. One possibility later and our heroine is on top of the world, she loves her job and her boss and coworkers are excited to see her coming. She loves the new job she is going to and the new career she is creating with her sweetie.
Damn, I am good. And I am proud of myself. And her life is never, ever going to be the same. I expect a free vacation from those two! An expensive ocean voyage complete with scuba and education. Trips to the Caribbean to learn the wonders of our oceans and the impact of environmental degradation at the hands of man.
Yep. I am good.
